AccorHotels is surely setting its sights on world domination in the global hospitality industry. As TOPHOTELNEWS previously reported, 2016 was a record year in growth for the brand, with an unbelievable rate of openings of one new hotel every 36 hours. The group has also maintained a savvy approach to growth, namely by enabling numerous partnerships and perhaps most importantly by steadily acquiring new hotel brands. Accor also has a vision: to shift the perspective on the way people think about hotels. In this vein, Accor have recently acquired the platform VeryChic, which offers its members discounts on a range of select high-end hotels, cruises, apartments and holiday packages worldwide, and partnered with Travelsify, a site which markets itself as a Hotel DNA Content Platform, matching users to their perfect hotel experience.
Personalization is becoming a focus for Accor as they endeavour to streamline the customer’s hotel booking process, ensuring that travelers are completely satisfied with their hotel “experience”. This happens using Travelsify’s “MoodMatch” software, which holds the “DNA” of 960 of Accor’s hotels, and will be available through the Accor website. Users choose from four categories and then are given a selection of hotels that may match their criteria.
The acquisition of VeryChic, on the other hand, is intended to give Accor the knowledge and expertise of VeryChic’s “push model” of flash sales. from Accor said “A few months ago we realized we needed to optimize this with our own solution, and this is where we came up with the idea for the VeryChic acquisition.” of VeryChic said “The combination with AccorHotels will allow VeryChic to roll out globally the services that we have been providing to hotels for the past five years and to offer our members the opportunity to discover the most beautiful locations in the luxury hotel sector”, pointing to a symbiotic relationship between the two organisations.
